On September 3, 2021, the Summit Forum on Emerging Trends in the Opening-up and Development of Trade in Services of the 2021 CIFTIS was held in Beijing, attended by leaders from MOFCOM, the Development Research Center of the State Council and the Beijing Municipality and delegates from international organizations and institutions, Global Fortune500 companies and multinationals, think tanks and bodies related to trade in services. Yu Jianhua, China International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce attended and delivered a keynote at the Forum.

Yu Jianhua siad that on the evening of September 2, President Xi Jinping made an important speech at the Global Trade in Services Summit of the 2021 CIFTIS, providing basic guidance for deepening development and cooperation on trade in services. Currently, trading in services is showing new trends and characteristics of digital enablement creating new impetus, science and technology enablement activating new engines, and rules enablement exploring new space, as new services emerge and the digital economy growing apace.

Yu pointed out that the open development of China’s trade in services has made key contribution to the world. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, as people’s demand grows for quality services, trade in services will enter a stage of high-quality development with broader prospects. China will further raise the level of opening-up for a new landscape of all-round opening-up; further expand the opening-up space for more practical outcomes; and further connect opening-up rules to meet new requirements and challenges.
